In the summer term of 2024, Richtons was entrusted with the removal of asbestos insulating board upstands from skylights across multiple school corridors. The project required the precise construction of internal scaffolding and controlled enclosures to ensure safe and efficient removal.
This work was seamlessly coordinated with ongoing roofing renovations, resulting in a modernized roof and upgraded interiors. The project’s completion not only enhanced the school’s infrastructure but also incorporated solar power technology, fostering a more sustainable, energy-efficient environment for the educational community.

Richtons was recently engaged by a contractor collaborating with the local authority to safely remove asbestos and suspected drug paraphernalia from condemned garages near a housing estate. To ensure safety and compliance, we established a fully controlled working enclosure, enabling the secure removal of asbestos insulating board and a thorough needle sweep to eliminate bio-hazardous items.
Our team followed strict protocols for the safe disposal of hazardous materials, demonstrating our commitment to the highest standards of asbestos removal. Staff were equipped with specialized PPE, including cutting and needle-resistant gloves, ensuring their safety while handling potentially dangerous items like needles. This meticulous approach highlights our dedication to health, safety, and effective hazardous material management.

Earlier in 2024, Richtons was contracted to provide asbestos removal services for the Eastlight Community Homes Foundation in partnership with Braintree and Colchester councils. This ongoing project involves the replacement of roofing, fascias, and soffits across the councils' housing portfolio, with over 100 properties requiring attention annually.
Our role focuses on the safe removal of asbestos materials that could obstruct scheduled maintenance work. Operating on a schedule of rates, we efficiently respond to weekly client requests, consistently meeting agreed timelines and adhering to the highest standards outlined in the tender process. Richtons is dedicated to delivering effective, compliant solutions that enhance the safety and quality of the housing stock while minimizing disruption to tenants and the public.

The project involved the safe removal of asbestos pipe insulation and debris from the floor voids beneath the bathrooms of hotel rooms, under fully controlled working conditions. The work was conducted during operational hours, with carefully managed temporary exclusions and restrictions to ensure that the process was carried out safely, accurately, and effectively. We collaborated closely with Westminster Council, the local authority as per our ASB5 Notification, throughout the duration of the project to ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation and procedures, given the scale and demands of the project.

Richtons was appointed to facilitate the safe removal of asbestos insulation board partition walls from a four-story back-office staircase during the renovation of the Oxfam shopfront. The project involved the complete containment of the staircase and adjacent hallways, with meticulous attention to detail regarding air movement and control to ensure safety and compliance throughout the process. All known ACM’s were removed safely, securely, and on-time, to benefit the onsite contractors reinstatement process.
London Southeast Colleges, Lambeth
Richtons successfully completed urgent electrical works at a school for individuals with learning difficulties and disabilities, prioritizing minimal disruption to staff and students. The project, critical for health and safety, was completed ahead of schedule. A Health and Safety Executive Inspector specializing in Asbestos and Construction commended our team for their professionalism, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to excellence.
